Our story began on a winding road near Dhanaulti, where the forest floor lay carpeted in golden pine needles: beautiful, abundant, and a fire hazard waiting to ignite. A question took hold. What if nature's debris could become a village's lifeline? Months later, near the Uttarakhand–Uttar Pradesh border, the question sharpened into resolve. Fields burned after every harvest, smoke thickening the air, while villages just miles away flickered with unreliable power. Why burn waste when it could fuel progress? From that paradox, Soham Carbon Innovators was born. What started in 2024 as laboratory trials with rice husks and cow dung grew, by 2025, into a company blending rural ingenuity with advanced pyrolysis and torrefaction technology, converting crop residue, pine needles, and organic waste into biochar and clean, energy-dense fuel. Our systems, developed from research at IIT Roorkee, are designed for efficient and low-emission conversion, delivering customized grades of biochar and torrefied biomass for agriculture, energy, and beyond.
Today, every farmer who sells us straw and every field enriched with our biochar is part of a larger cycle: waste becomes income, soils grow healthier, and carbon stays locked away for centuries instead of escaping into the sky. Each tonne of biochar we produce keeps roughly three tonnes of CO₂ out of the atmosphere, while our torrefied biomass offers industries a clean, renewable alternative to coal. Healthier soils retain more water, demand less fertilizer, and nurture better harvests, creating value that flows back to the very communities the waste came from. But our real measure of success is human: cleaner air to breathe, livelihoods where pollution once lingered, and communities that no longer have to choose between prosperity and a livable planet. This story began with a pine needle. Now it is yours to shape. At SCI, we do not just see waste. We see what the world could be.
